MURIEL D’ANSEMBOURG lived in New-York, Amsterdam and London. She studied Screenwriting and ran a production company in The Netherlands before settling in London. She returned to studies for a Masters in Directing at the London Film School, where she graduated with Distinction. Her graduation film ’Good Night’ was nominated for a British Academy Film Award 2013 and received a theatrical release within the UK.
Muriel has written, directed and shot several award winning short films and documentaries. These films are typically powerful dramas where characters transgressive behaviour leads to surprising moments of intimacy. They have won 20 awards and screened at over 100 major film festivals world-wide.
Positive reviews and recognition for her work has come from the likes of The Guardian, The Observer, Little White Lies and Time Out calling Good Night "A standout film", "Unnerving yet transfixing", "Confident directing and astonishing performances” and “A provocative and sensual drama".
MovieScope and Creative Skillset recently marked Muriel as ’One To Watch’. Muriel is currently developing a feature film whilst continuing to write and direct short films.
